The Grand Forks Chiefs first joined the Northern League in 1933 and stayed in the league for 2 years. After a two year absence, they returned in 1937 and by 1938 had their first affiliation... the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds only stayed around for the season, but the White Sox came in and took over the Chiefs from 1940 til the war in 1942 shut down the Northern League. Luckily within 4 years, the war was over and the Northern League was back. The Chiefs took the field as members of the Dodgers organization for the 1946 season.
