The Bears moved in, during the 1937 season as the reigning Northern League Champions. As part of the move, they switched their affiliation to the Chicago Cubs and finished in 3rd place, losing the Northern League playoffs in the 1st round. They would make the playoffs again in 1939 but lose in the first round. The Cubs would leave Eau Claire after 3 years and the Bears would go it alone as a co-op team. They would play terrible baseball without the Cubs umbrella in 1940 but would feature their best player to date (though you certainly wouldn't know it by his stats).
