By 1946 the war was over and the Northern League fired up their engines once again. The Duluth Dukes were back in service as the Class C affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals… and boy were they awful! They finished in last place with a 30-76 (.283) record… one of the worst records in Northern League history. By 1947 they were back in 4th place, barely making the playoffs and finishing 5 games over .500. Fans however, couldn't be happier to have baseball back as they easily broke the 100,000 mark in attendance, for their best record ever at the gate.
