While the Northern League was not in operation, Wade Stadium would continue holding professional baseball during the war, in perhaps the oddest configuration we've seen. At the time, Minor League systems ran from Class AAA-Class D with D being the lowest rung of Minor League Baseball. For the first (and only time that we can see), a Class "E" league was begun. It was called the "Twin Ports League" and operated with 4 teams… 3 of which would call Wade Stadium their home ballpark and one other that played in Superior Wisconsin (though we're not sure if they just called themselves the "Superior Bays" and played at Wade Stadium as well. We can't find any documentation on where this team played).
