Northern League (Northern League East) - Independent |
The Northern League began as an affiliated League in 1903 and played until 1917.
It started up again in 1933 and played continuously until 1971. In 1992, Miles
Wolfe created a new "renegade" version of the Northern League. Unlike the previous
edition, the new Northern League would not affiliate itself with the Major
or Minor Leagues. Instead, they would create their own league with their own rules,
and move into places that other teams couldn't. The success of this League,
would be the catalyst to the start the new era of Independent Baseball. The Northern
League merged with the Northeast League for 4 seasons... from 1999-2002.
4 teams from the Northern League defected to the American Assocation in 2006,
but the league continued on until 2010 when they merged with the United League
and Golden League forming the new North American League |
