After storms began battering the ballpark year in and year out, it was covered by something similar to aluminum siding to keep the ballpark's intregrity intact. The infield was removed and the ballpark was turned into a speedway for racing cars and motorbikes, with the grandstand still serving its main purpose of keeping the fans close to the action. After the speedway was taken out of service, the grandstand seating was used for servicing something other than the human derriere.
