There's one thing that you have to understand about Negro League ball to truly understand the importance of this ballpark. Most Negro League teams suffered the indignity of, not only not being allowed to play in the Major Leagues... they also didn't usually have their own stadiums. They had to barnstorm and play in stadia that weren't theirs... many times nowhere near where they were centrally located. In the few instances where the teams did have their own actual home field... well those are now long gone, like storied Greenlee Field in Pittsburgh.
