Hinchliffe Stadium opened in 1932. It has hosted semipro football, soccer, track and field, boxing, concerts and even auto racing. It's biggest claim to fame however came in 1933 when the New York Black Yankees first began playing at this stadium. They would go to the Negro National League Championships versus the Philadelphia Stars that season and all of their championship home games would be played here in Hinchliffe. They would lose to the stars, but they were thrilled with the ballpark. By 1934, it became their regular home ballpark, where they would spend the majority of their career.
