The West Side Grounds was located where the University of Illinois College of Medicine campus is today, just south of I-290 and about a mile west of I-94. There was another West Side Park "I" which pre-dated this facility and this ballpark often went under the name West Side Park II as well as West Side Grounds. Today we try to differentiate between the two by calling this stadium "West Side Grounds" and keep the "West Side Park" for WSP I. WSG had a capacity the size of a very large Triple-A Stadium with 16,000 fans able to make the Cubs' original friendly confines, even friendlier, especially during post-season play.
