The announcement meant the end of some of the most incredible baseball history in New York City. Shea Stadium and Yankee Stadium would now become a part of folklore and the stories handed down each generation, the same way that the stories and memories of Ebbets Field and the Polo Grounds (and Yankee Stadium I, before 1974) have been for many years. Shea Stadium may not have quite the beauty that Ebbets Field once did, but it does have the history. 1969 and 1986 are years that will forever be imbedded into the minds of Mets fans everywhere.
