The New York Yankees would make one final cameo appearance at Shea Stadium on April 15, 1998. This would be their final "home game" at Shea, and their first since the Yankees played two full seasons here in 1974 and 1975. The cameo was due to a fallen beam that had crashed down to the grandstand from the upper deck and took out several rows of seats. Yankee Stadium was shut down until repairs and inspections were completed. No one was in the stadium at the time of the incident.
