Shea Stadium has been called the louded stadium on the planet many times, but it is not because of screaming fans or all of the rock concerts. It is because of its proximity to LaGuardia Airport. Planes bank around the stadium continuously (like the 727 going past the Keyspan sign), causing batters and pitchers to have to step out until the noise dies down. How loud are these planes? Consider the fact that the NFL used have a team called the Titans before they moved into Shea Stadium... upon which they changed their name to the New York Jets. Ever wonder why? I'll let you guess.
