Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones rocked the house with Living Colour for 6 nights in 1989 as part of their Steel Wheels tour. Elton John co-headlined with Eric Clapton in August 1992 and Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band would do several performances here in 2003. In 2008, the Mets announced that the final performance of Shea Stadium would be by Billy Joel, who would close out the stadium. The tickets sold out so fast that another "final" night was added.
