So why was Shea Stadium, the only ballpark of the "doughnut stadiums era" (with bite taken out of it), that was afforded a view? Cincinnati and Pittsburgh had incredible river landscapes and as you can see at Shea, this view is just horrible. The outfield is lined with car salvage lots, where old Buicks go to die. In many ways... maybe it would have been better if they did enclose Shea. (Night games were far more enjoyable).
