Cinergy Field was a technical marvel at the time. The Reds had been playing in Crosley
Field since 1912... an older vintage ballpark. In comparison, this was the
advent of the modern... the newest in architectural design coming to Cincinnati.
This relatively stoic and unemotional sea of concrete may have had no personality
but Cincinnati threw its arms around it as much as they could. Players were
thrilled to have a modern clubhouse, announcers had a real booths to broadcast
from and the press had air conditioned accomodations. It was love at first
convenient sight. |
