This is Tal's Hill. The story behind this particularly strange quirk is... When designing
the stadium, Tal Smith (president of the Astros) had put several strange
and distinctive oddities into the field designs to make it interesting and different....
the most peculiar was a hill in centerfield with a flagpole sticking
out of it. Most of these strange additions, he believed, were never expected
to make it past the blueprints. Surprisingly enough, especially to Tal himself, not only did it make it past the architects (HOK) sketches,
