1952 brought Jim Bunning to town. The pitcher showed some talents but not quite future Hall of Fame talents, going 5-9 with a 3.49 ERA. A 41 year old Schoolboy Rowe also came Bowman Field as a manager but actually pitched in quite a few games as well, going 6-3 with a 3.04 ERA in 10 starts. The Tigers left for good after the 1952 season and were replaced once again by the Philadelphia A's.
