1942 brought World War II and most of the Minor League systems to a halt. The Eastern League however continued on through the war. While this helped many teams, it didn't help Williamsport as the Philadelphia A's said goodbye to Bowman Field after loyal 10 year run. The A's moved north to Elmira's Dunn Field and Bowman Field would go dark, until 1944 when the Washington Senators signed a quick 2 year deal. When that ended, the Tigers then moved in and quickly signed a 7 year PDC.
