As you've seen earlier and will throughout this gallery... Historic Bowman Field has been home to Williamsport's professional baseball (at the Single-A and Double-A level) for nearly 100 years! We will get into the team's history throughout that time and how Major League Baseball came to play an annual regualr season event at this ballpark. Today however ... Historic Bowman Field's main job is to be home to the Williamsport Crosscutters of the Single-A NY-Penn League. A "Crosscutter" (as he is shown above) showcases the fact that Williamsport was at one time the "lumber capital of the world". Not Maine or Oregon or Michigan... but right here in Williamsport Pennsylvania. The Crosscutters franchise pays homage to this city's lumberjacking history and the man in the moustache may even remember that back in 1887, the Williamsport Minor League franchise was named the "Williamsport Lumber City's".
