The out of the way location wasn't a detriment due to the fact that there weren't any other options. That playing field however, would change significantly over the next decade. The first thing that occurred was independent baseball.  Indy baseball doesn't have to follow any rules. It's independent of the Major Leagues and affiliated Minors. Indy league teams don't play for the Mets or Cardinals. They play for nobody but themselves and their corresponding league.
