The Berkshire Brewers PDC came to a close after one season and the team moved to Holyoke's MacKenzie Field. Professional baseball wouldn't come back to Wahconah Park until 1985 when the Chicago Cubs signed an Eastern League PDC with Pittsfield. The new Pittsfield Cubs would only last 4 seasons but feature some pretty impressive future superstars such as: Jamie Moyer (1985: 7-6, 3.72, 1986: 3-0, 0.88), Joe Girardi (7 HR, .272) Rafael Palmiero (29 2b, 12 HR, .306), Mark Grace (29 2b, 17 HR, .333) and Greg Maddux (4-3, 2.69). In 1989 the Cubs moved their Double-A operations to Charlotte. ending Wahconah Park's history as a Double-A stadium..
