Wahconah Park began its professional career in the original Class A Eastern League (not related to today's Eastern League). They were called the Pittsfield Hillies and produced 2 Hall Of Famers... Hugh Duffy, and Herb Pennock. The Hillies played for the Eastern League until 1930. Professional Baseball would return to Pittsfield in 1941 as the Pittsfield Electrics joined the Class C Can Am League but would choose to play at Deming Field instead of Wahconah Park. Crude conditions at the little ballfield brought professional baseball back to Wahconah Park for the 1942 season.
