In 2000, the NY Mets & NY Yankees agreed to allow 2 new Minor League Ballparks to be built within the jurisdictional boundaries of Shea and Yankee Stadium. The Ballpark @ St. George would be built in Staten Island for the Yankees while Keyspan Park would be built in Brooklyn for the Mets. In 2001, the Pittsfield Mets became the Brooklyn Cyclones. The vacated PDC was filled by the Houston Astros who came to Pittsfield for 1 season. In 2002, the Astros moved to their own new ballpark (Joseph Bruno Stadium) in Troy NY. The 3 new ballparks meant that there was no room left for a historic ballpark like Wahconah Park in affiliated Minor League Baseball.
