Wahconah Park would be downgraded to the Short Season Single-A NY Penn League, but in many ways it would bring some stability to the ballpark. The move came with an 11 year PDC with the New York Mets (the longest that Wahconah Park would ever sign), who had moved their NY Penn operations from Little Falls' Veterans Field. Though the team was now only playing "Short Seasons", attendance jumped to over 100,000 for the first time. Pittsfield Mets Players included Jeremy Burnitz (173 AB, 6 HR, .301), Edgardo Alfonzo (.356), Bill Pulsipher (6-3, 2.84), Jason Isringhausen (7-4, 3.29), Jay Payton (.365), A.J Burnett (3-1, 4.70) and Ty Wigginton (.239)
