With the two best hitters and the two best pitchers in the league, it is no wonder that the Beavers finished with an 85-62 (.578) record to take 1st place and bring Recreation Park its first Championship trophy. Despite the growing popularity of Recreation Park as a sporting arena and the Beavers helping by playing terrific and talented baseball on the field… Recreation Park was being looked at not for its beautiful wooden architecture or ability to attract large crowds… but its potential for real estate. By 1909 the team began to sink quickly in the standings as did the ballpark's financial offerings. By 1910 there was talk, not of ending baseball here in Vancouver… but moving the team to a new location with an all new grandstand.
