The new Athletic Park sat 6,000 fans comfortably and when the ballpark opened on April 17th 1913, the Vancouver Beavers filled it with just about 5,700 fans for their opening day against the Tacoma Tigers … a game which they would win by a score of 8-4 in front of fans who seemed very excited to be in the Beavers' new environment. Along with the Tacoma Tigers, the Class B Northwestern League featured another Canadian franchise… the Victoria Bees. The Portland Colts played at the Vaughn Street Park. The Seattle Giants were also playing in a brand new ballpark… Dugdale Park, also debuting in 1913. Rounding out the league were the Spokane Indians.
