Tom Mankey, would instead get that honor. Mankey led the team in batting with a .331 average while hitting 25 doubles, 12 triples and a club leading 11 HRs. Unlike Gantenbein, Mankey had plenty of At Bats to take over the club lead, as Mankey played in 119 Games and had 478 official At Bats. Richard Small led in every other category as he put up a .308 with 38 doubles and 17 triples. William Faller (25 2Bs, 9 3Bs, 4 HRs, .288) and Robert Wallace (24 2Bs, 7 3Bs, .313) also contributed to this strong lineup. Dick Young (6 2B, .219) would play in 24 games on his way to the Philadelphia Phillies.
