The Far West League was a Class D system, one of the lowest in the ranks, but had a strong ties to Major League baseball. Most teams in the league would benefit in performance and talent as they held Major League affiliations and the team that would call Klamath Falls home, was no exception. The new "Klamath Falls Gems" would be representatives of the Philadelphia Phillies organization and they would make their home here at Kiger Stadium (aka Gems Stadium)... completed in 1948 and one of the last standing all-wooden baseball stadiums in the world.
