As World War II came to an end and the boys came home from war… the "American Dream"
including the little house with the white picket fence and family values took
hold of the country. As part of those family values, baseball came to the forefront
as America’s pastime like never before. Television was still a little less
than a decade away, and going to the ballpark to meet friends and relatives
and enjoy a night out in the summer air was the leading source of entertainment
across the country. Because of this, Minor League systems began springing up
all over the country, where they thrived for a very short time before dying out
forever. The Far West League was a typical example of this phenomenon, representing
the lower Pacific Northwest and Northern California. |
