Loggers & Gulls
The Loggers finished the season with a 22-44 (.333) record in 5th place and only 10,000 fans came to see it. By 1978 however they suddenly got better... a lot better. The difference was easy to see and it was the pitching. The 1978 Loggers would set records for pitching due to their ace David Jannusch who was simply fantastic. Posting a 2.57 ERA, David Jannuch gave up only 104 hits in 133 innings. By seasons end, David Jannusch had amazingly lost just one game all season long, finishing with a record of 13-1. Behind him, Fran Hirschy was even better in ERA posting a 1.99 in 149 innings, finishing with a 11-6 record. 3rd was Tracy Harris who played half the season as a starter and the rest in the bullpen, posting another 2.57 ERA along with a 6-2 record. Michael Redding was 5-2 with a 3.00 ERA.
