Everett Memorial Stadium's best asset is perhaps its location... only 29 miles away from downtown Seattle, yet its construction wasn't halted for being in the Mariners' jurisdiction (anything less than 75 miles, and you're probably looking at an injunction!) We're not sure why they were allowed to build a Minor League ballpark this close to the Kingdome (remember 1984), but perhaps it is because the Mariners had every intention of using it one day as their own Short Season Single-A ballclub. That wouldn't happen
right away however... the San Francisco Giants pulled into this ballpark in 1984 and they would stay here for 11 very long and loyal years.
