In 1937, there was talk about reviving the "Western International League" … known today as the Single-A Northwest League. The excitement of professional baseball returning to Vancouver after 15 long years, immediately caught the eye of Bob Brown. When Brown went to bid on the new franchise however… he found that he had been "beaten to the punch" by none other than Con Jones. Jones had swooped in and taken the new Western International League franchise for himself. Con Jones wanted to turn his Con Jones Park into a true "multi-sport arena" and installed a baseball diamond into his football field making for some very odd dimensions for a ballpark.
