Arizona has seen 34 NCAA postseason appearances … 15 of which have led them to the College World Series in Omaha. They have also had well over 200 players reach go on to play professional baseball and nearly 70 of them go on to play in the Major Leagues… some of whom became impact players. The 1976 Wildcats were the first team to go all the way and featured an amazing 13 future Major Leaguers including Ron Hassey… the only catcher to ever catch two perfect games in the MLB. Future Tigers/White Sox OF Dave Stegman would also play for the team. Stegman would go down in Wildcats history for knocking in the most RBI's in a single game... 11; for the most hits in a season with 111 and in 1976 he would set the all time Doubles record with 30. Hassey meanwhile still holds the single season RBI record for the Wildcats with 86 RBI's.
