The Chicago White Sox came to Waco in 1912 and brought Spring Training to this area for the first time in history. In the 3 seasons that Waco supported Spring Training ball, the Minor League Katy Park would be the home of teams which utilized this town, however in 1912 the White Sox also spent a significant amount of time at this ballpark as well as Katy Park. The Browns and the White Sox who returned in 1920 would still use Carroll Field, but only when Katy Park was completely unavailable.
