The next NMSU alumni to reach the MLB may be Tyler Sturdevant. Tyler had a rough time here & got knocked around pretty good in 3 seasons, posting an 0-1; 9.36 in 2005; a 6-6, 5.94 in 2008 and a 7-6, 6.74 in 2009. Still, the Cleveland Indians saw something in him and made a decision to sign him in the 27th round of the 2009 MLB draft. That decision may pay some good dividends for the Indians. Tyler has grown tremendously as a pitcher, and has made it all the way to Triple-A Columbus (as of 2014) and stands poised to be brought up to the MLB at any time.
