Since the field itself opened in 1982, Presley Askew Field has had 55 alumni drafted by Major League Baseball with 2 players reaching the Major Leagues including Fernando Ramsey for the Chicago Cubs and Jason Rakers, who spent parts of 3 years playing for the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians. Mark Acre wasn't drafted, but also made it to the Major Leagues from NMSU as a free agent and played for 4 seasons with the Oakland A's. The Aggies' highest ranking draft pick was Luke Hopkins who was taken in the 5th Round in 2006 by the Toronto Blue Jays but only played a single season before retiring.
