According to the book "Baseball In Minnesota" by Stew Thornley, the Great Central League was founded by adult strip club magnate Dick Jacobson. The league featured 3 other teams: the Mason City Bats, Champaign-Urbana Bandits and the Lafayette Leopards. Except for the Leopards who played at the attractive Loeb Field, the other 3 teams played at ballparks collegiate ballparks similar to this one.  The Millers also weren't the only game in town. In fact, the Twin Cities boasted 4 Minor League teams during the 1994 season. The St. Paul Saints were drawing huge crowds, the Twins were playing everyday and only 3 miles away, the Minneapolis Loons were playing for the North Central league at Siebert Field.
