The ill fated Great Central League was one of the first independent startup leagues in the country. Born in 1994, they began their lifecycle around the same time as the Frontier League, the Prarie League, the Northern League and the North Central League. Most of these leagues didn't last more than one season, except for the Frontier League and Northern League who were both founded on a solid business program and forged ahead. The Great Central League wasn't quite that astute. They found themselves bankrupt after only one season.
