Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium was named for Stanley Coveleski (surprised?)... who was born and raised in South Bend Indiana. Coveleski was a well known spit-baller who became a Major League Baseball Hall of Famer in 1969. Coveleski had a great career, mostly with the Cleveland Indians and Washington Senators, amassing a 216-142 record during his tenure in the Major Leagues including five 20-win seasons.
