Whether you know it as Lanphier Park or Robin Roberts Stadium, this ballpark is one of the more famed ballparks of the Midwest. Built in 1925, this ballpark has gone through some tremendous changes over the years to what it looks like today and has hosted everything from Class D to Triple-A baseball as well indy leagues and even collegiate summer leagues as it does today. The ballpark was renamed Robin Roberts Stadium after its favorite son... Hall of Famer Robin Roberts who grew up here and attended Lanphier High School. Throughout it all, this ballpark stands tall as one of the jewels of Springfield Illinois. We will look back to its past days when it was a wooden ballpark playing in the Three-I League and to the more recent era aluminum era when it served proudly as a Triple-A home for the St. Louis Cardinals and as the home base for today's Springfield Sliders.
