by Trenton in 7 games. The team featured Steve Filipowicz who led the league
in hits (187) and RBI (134). Moe Savransky meanwhile put together a 6-4 record
with a 3.67 ERA. Attendance had jumped to 114,000... good for 2nd place in the
league behind York. In 1949, the team had dropped significantly, both in the standings
and at the gate. They put together a 59-81 record (.421), 28.5 games out
of 1st place. They wouldn't break the 70,000 mark in attendance but still finished
3rd in the league. When the Reds 2 year PDC came to an end, the team was
replace by the Philadelphia Athletics organization who were much worse! (53,049).
Managed by outfielder George Staller (.283), they would put together a record
of 53-86 (.381). The only decent pitcher they had was Al Busa (8-8, 2.41). |

The Sunbury Reds were run by Joe Buzas who would become one of the pioneers in baseball's front office. Buzas would go on from Sunbury to own 82 different baseball teams in his lifetime, the last being the Salt Lake Stingers.
