I was only one year old when the Miracle Mets won the 1969 world series, so I obviously didn't understand it all that well back then at the ripe old age of one, butů by the time I was 5 years old I did. I didn't quite get the game and all of its nuances. I didn't know why there were double switches. I did understand however, that was an electricity going on at Shea that I could feel right through the 25" Zenith TV in my living room. So when I was sent to bed at 7:30, I would pretend to sleep but force myself to stay awake. Then I would climb out of bed and hide behind my father's chair and watch the game in our little apartment in Brooklyn.
