In 1946 Big Spring High School began putting together a new budget for its athletic program. The budget included the building of a new baseball stadium that would serve not only the high school but could also serve the Minor Leagues at a cost of $15 per game, bringing income into the school system. With a brand new ballpark under their belts to showcase, Big Spring met with the Longhorn League and sure enough they received one of the 6 spots on the inaugural Longhorn roster.
