Victory Field was part of a much bigger project designed to re-invent the downtown Indianapolis area and hopefully bring a tremendous growth spurt and perhaps a newly established "hot spot" for the people of Indianapolis. Via stylish and trendy restaurants and taverns the city of Indianapolis hoped to create the new "hip" place-to-be in much the same vein as Denver had done with their "Lo-Do" district which realized a tremendous real estate boom with the building of Coors Field.
