Buffalo does believe that it can take on a Major League team for many reasons...
one being support. Comparing when the San Diego Padres were "promoted" to the Major
Leagues, or the Seattle Pilots (or Mariners) or Atlanta when the Braves moved
to from Milwaukee or the Browns to Baltimore or the A's or Royals to Kansas
City or Denver getting the Rockies or Phoenix getting the Diamondbacks... none
of the Minor League teams that were playing in these cities were drawing significant
enough numbers to warrant having a Major League franchise. Certainly they
weren't drawing in the millions as a Minor League team. That's because a Minor
League team has only drawn over a million fans in a single season... "twice in
the entire history of Minor League Baseball". The all time attendance record
would be the Louisville Coloniels who drew 1.05 million to the massive Fairgrounds Stadium in 1983 and... |
