In 1969, the Mets moved their Triple-A to the Tidewater Region for good. They began play at Lawrence Stadium in Portsmouth and became known as the Tidewater Tides. They would only play at Lawrence Stadium for one season, as yet another new ballpark would be built for them in 1970, Metropolitan Stadium in Tidewater.
