Rochester New York
Home of the Rochester Red Wings
The Orioles realized just how stabile of a franchise this was and would actually top the St. Louis franchise signing the Rochester Red Wings to a Player Development Contract lasting a whopping 42 years! This kind of loyalty is almost unfounded in professional baseball and the Baltimore Orioles would make Rochester their Triple-A home from 1961 until 2002, meaning they spanned the era of professional baseball from Silver Stadium and well into the opening of the new Frontier Field. Perhaps the only thing that would make the Orioles move out of Rochester was an opening much closer to home, and thatís what happened when the Tidewater/Norfolk Tides finally said goodbye to another loyal franchise, the New York Mets, and welcomed the Baltimore Orioles.
