Rochester Bronchos
Looking to continue on with their great performances, the Bronchos would feature Pep Deininger who was the team’s star with 24 2B, 13 3B, 7 HR and a .295 average. He would be fully protected in the lineup by Danny Moeller (15 2B, 14 3B, 6 HR, 47 SB, .269). Fred Osborn returned to hit .302 with 25 2B and 10 3B and Hack Simmons batted .271 with 10 2B. Whitey Alperman led the team in triples with 16 to go along with 19 2B and a .258 batting average. On the mound, Ed Lafitte was outstanding going 23-14, George McConnell (19-12), Jay Holmes (17-10), Pat Ragan (16-11) and Ralph Savidge (13-12) finished up an excellent pitching rotation. Ed Lafitte and Jay Holmes would combine for 16 shutouts, 8 apiece. It is a Rochester record which still stands today. The great pitching combined with the excellent hitting to take the Rochester Bronchos back to the post-season where they would find the Newark Indians waiting for them. Again the Bronchos would forge ahead and go on to win their second International League Championship behind a 92-61 first place finish.
