St. Petersburg Florida has been a hotbed for Spring Training baseball since the beginning.
In fact, St. Pete was where the first Florida based Spring exhibition
games took place. There were usually at least 3 ballparks active in the city o
St. Petersburg at one time from the 1920's through the 1950's (not including ballparks
in Tampa, Clearwater and Dunedin... make that 5 or 6 if you include those)
and many of these ballparks went under several different names. When doing
research (especially online) you will find that there is confusion over these
three ballparks and plenty |
of erroneous information because of it. We'll try and wade through the murky
waters of who actually did play in St. Pete... and where. |
