Green Field looked like this in its earliest incarnations before becoming the classic ballpark that would be known as the Spring Training for 3 separate Major League teams for 3 decades to come. It's creation had much to do with the Brooklyn Dodgers (then known for that short period of time as the Brooklyn Robins). Up until this point, Brooklyn had been going back and forth between Durkee Field in Jacksonville Florida (aka James Small Stadium... still standing) and New Orleans' venerable Heinemann Park. While both were excellent quality facilities, they weren't able to be the "permanent" sort of home that was dedicated to just the Dodgers, the way that Charles Ebbets wanted them to be.
